Sun Yanzi, or Stefanie Sun, is regarded as one of the most accomplished local artistes in Singapore. She has made her name known throughout Asia. In just 11 years since her debut, she has released a total of 13 albums.
Collaborations with other artistes
In 2010, Yanzi collaborated with 3 other local artistes, JJ Lin , Tanya Chua and A-Du, to release a single “Every Touching Moment” fot the Shanghai World Expo 2010.
Stefanie collaborated with Japanese singer Mai Kuraki for “My Story, Your Song” in her 5th album To be Continued and “Tonight, I feel close to you” in Mai Kuraki’s album If I Believe.
She also sang in a duet “The Beginning” together with fellow Singaporean singer Tanya Chua for Tanya’s album Amphibian.
In the song “First Day” for her 7th album A Perfect Day, Stefanie collaborated with popular Taiwanese bands MayDay and F.I.R., having previous collaboration with MayDay on a song “Time Machine“ from the band’s album.
In addition, Yanzi recorded the theme song of the 2008 Olympic Games “Light the Passion, Share the Dream” together with singers Wang Leehom, Jackie Chan and Wang Feng.
Awards
The female singer cum songwriter has achieved more than 50 awards and honours in the course of her musical career in well-developed Mandopop industries like Taiwan and Hongkong, China and Singapore.
Such awards range from Best Newcomer in Hongkong’s TVB 8 Mandarin Music Awards 2000 to Best Local Artiste in the Singapore Hits Awards 2004 to Outstanding Singer (Singapore) in the 6thand 7th Global Chinese Music Awards.
National identity
Yanzi sang the official theme songs, “We Will Get There” and “One United People”, for Singapore’s annual National Day Parade in 2002 and 2003 respectively.
Career
Yanzi started her own artiste management company “Make Music” after taking a year’s leave to recover her sense of direction in her career in late 2003. She then left her former company, Warner Music, in 2007.
