14 Jul – JJ Lin grabbed the "Best Local Singer" for the fourth consecutive year at the 16th Annual COMPASS Awards last weekend. The singer beat out familiar names such as Stefanie Sun and Tanya Chua, according to reports by Xin MSN website.
However, due to his brother's wedding, the singer was unable to make an appearance at the ceremony.
Besides bagging the "Best Local Singer", JJ also took the title of "Best Local Lyricist", both awards are based on the total royalty fees earned by the nominated singers or lyricists had earned in the past year.
JJ had prepared a video beforehand, apologizing for his absence, saying, "This is the first time I am unable to attend the awards ceremony, as I have an important wedding to attend. It is my brother's wedding, which is more than just a friend's wedding. It is also my first time being the best man."
The singer also thanked COMPASS for the award, and said that this will serve as an ongoing reminder for him to continue working hard, creating breakthroughs and producing even more great music, as this is his calling.
